Junior League provides supplies & materials to help students with remote learning

SCHENECTADY - Representatives from The Junior League of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties recently donated more than $2,000 worth of materials and school supplies to the students at Yates Elementary School in Schenectady.  The donation will help ensure that the 200 students attending school virtually, have the tools and materials they need when they log in to their virtual classrooms each day.

Rob Flanders, principal of Yates expressed gratitude to the Junior League for the generous donation.  Among the supplies are dry erase boards and markers, headphones with microphones, notebooks, scissors, and glue sticks, all items that that teachers agree will be helpful for the students who are learning from home.

"With 75 percent of the school population choosing the virtual learning option, these supplies and materials provide our students with the tools they may not already have available to them at home," said Flanders.  "The teachers now have common materials and supplies they can ask students to use during lessons."

The supplies are being distributed to Yates families at Steinmetz Park.
